It has been so crazy here since I last posted - poor Emi has really been quite unwell with a kidney infection. She started off being ill last Monday and it went on for a few days with her telling me that she was ok, but she obviously wasn't - high temperature and not eating. She threw up again last Saturday and I decided that enough was enough and dragged her to the doctor who once he tested her sample, diagnosed a kidney infection and prescribed antibiotics!
Due to being ill, she missed both the Leavers' Lunch at school as well as the Leavers' Assembly and the recorder playing to the Infant School. She insisted on going back to school on Tuesday so that she could take part in the school summer concert - I wasn't too keen but understood how much she wanted to do it - she was playing recorder, violin, and flute (although she soooooo didn't want to play her flute - her heart really isn't in it anymore - violin is so her instrument!) and she was also playing her violin in the orchestra - she wasn't too keen on playing in the orchestra either as they aren't very good, but she was asked specifically to help out - as was Alice and their friends Lucy and Alexandra too! Alice also played her recorder and played her violin with her group and was fab too!
Anyway, the whole concert was fantastic - the recorder ensemble was out of this world - not that I am biased or anything! The number of people who have come up to me and said how good they were is amazing! I can't take all of the credit as Rachel did the arrangement, but we still taught the kids - well, some of them!
Then, on Thursday, it was Emi's 11th birthday (I know, I don't look old enough!!!!) and it was also her last day at Junior School! They finished at lunchtime, but Lucie still had to go to school all day, so when I picked Emi and Alice up, we went to Haslemere to the music shop to buy Emi's birthday present - her violin! She asked for money for her birthday from just about everyone and saved up enough to buy a very good quality violin which sounds fantastic! Ordinarily, I wouldn't spend as much as she did on an instrument which she has only been playing for 3 months, but the fact that she has reached Grade 2 level in those 3 short months, I didn't have a problem with it. She is upstairs playing it right now and it sounds lovely - when she has finished I will be taking some photos of her with it to scrap!
Will post again soon with the photos/layout!!
