I know, it seems like forever since I posted on here!! The last couple of weeks have been really busy - in school and at home! We have been trying to get our year 3 and 4 recorder-playing kids ready for their Christmas Carol service which is a job and a half as the teacher who is meant to be organising it looks down on us as second-class citizens as we are voluntary! She can't even play the recorder and has very limited musical knowledge (prolly less than what we each have in our little toes!!), so it is an experience, to say the least! I have also been helping out in Lucie's school as well as trying to get organised for Christmas here!!
All of ther girls are really enjoying their swimming and dance and are looking forward to their dance school's Christmas party in a couple of weeks time. This week is going to be very busy, and very exciting as it is the Year 6 Christmas play and they have really gone to town (a little bit OTT for 10/11 year olds if you ask me, but there we go!!). Emi has got a non-speaking part as she was very sensible and agreed that she had so much going on with her music lessons and her after-school activities, that a speaking part would be too much - so she has got a part as a dolly mixture which involves wearing a cardboard box and dancing!! I will find out more precisely what she is doing tomorrow as I have been given the honour of accompanying Lucie's class (who goes to the infant school) to see the performance tomorrow afternoon. There are then performances on Tuesday afternoon, and then Wednesday and Thursday evenings - we are all going together with my Dad and brother on Wednesday so that should be fun!
Alice's year (for some unexplained reason) don't do anything for Christmas - the only year in the school that doesn't (????). However, there is one very good teacher at the school who is trying to change that and so is arranging a 'Christmas around the World' thing for that year group. Parents aren't going to be able to see it, but the kids get to dress up in costumes for the rest of the school, so at least they are doing something.
Lucie's year group are doing a more traditional play and she is a musician - she did want to be a dancer but wasn't there when they had to do a 'show of hands', so missed out. However, she would have been chosen to be a musician anyway as she has got an amazing sense of rhythm for a 6 year old and can keep time perfectly - whether she will be able to do that in front of an audience remains to be seen, but it will be fun for them anyway! That isn't till the 14th December, so I have to wait a while for that!!
Yesterday was spent putting the Christmas tree up, so I am going to do the rest of the decorations today whilst the girls are at their dad's, so I guess I'd better get a move on!!!
