ME AND THEM

ooops!!

As someone pointed out to me today, I had said that I would update about Alice and Lucie's parent teacher meeting, and I forgot!!! Nothing different to what I usually hear about them to be honest - both very positive about them!

Alice has got a lovely teacher called Mr Castle - a young male teacher who all of the kids want to have as their teacher, so they are very jealous of Alice's class! He said what a happy, fun and hard-working member of the class she is and that he had no concerns about how she had settled in or how her work was going. He asked me whether she read a lot at home as she has the reading ability of a 14/15 year old! I then said it was a shame that her spelling wasn't as good, so he pointed out that she is in top group spelling and that she had got 20/20 every week so far apart from one when she 'only' got 19!!! He then went on to say that if she carries on working like she is at the moment, then she will be getting level 5s in her sats at the end of the year (way above average for a child with an August birthday) - this is the kid who was always just about average!!!

Lucie also has a very nice teacher. She is strict but fair which I think is very important in a teacher, especially with this age group! She is extremely pleased with the way in which Lucie has settled into the school and how she is always up for trying anything different! She has made lots of new friends and has also kept up the friendships she had from the Infant school which is great! She is in top sets for everything and has already been noticed as being one of the sensible mature ones in the class! They have each been given a reading partner so that in lessons where they are reading anything, the stronger readers are parnered with a weaker reader in order to help them out. Lucie moaned to me about her partner as he is one of the more disruptive boys in her class. Mrs Timms' answer to it was that Lucie won't stand for any nonsense with him, and also wouldn't be disrupted by him messing around - which funnily enough is exactly what I had said to Lucie before the meeting! She did say that if it became a problem then she would change it, but Lucie seems to be keeping him under control!!

So, all in all, they are doing really well. Emily's parent/teacher day isn't for a little while yet, but all of her marks are fantastic - above average and top sets for English and Maths (they don't set them for other subjects yet)

And a double toot for me!!! I spoke to Marcie the other day about me being on her CT - apart from being one of my cyber-mummies, she is a great designer, and she accepted me onto her CT!! And, Doreen Stolz, who I am also a mega-big fan of had a CT call the other day, and she sent me an acceptance email today - how surprised was I!!! So am very excited to be getting all this fab CT work!

Off to Liphook Carnival today which should be fun! One of Emi's friends (and my ex-pupil) is carnival princess, and another friend and ex-pupil is one of her attendants. Also, one of my friend's daughters is the Carnival queen, so there will be lots of shouting and cheering from us lot!!

It's wonderful to be here again. it's been a while since I visited. The girls are all grown up and of course, getting prettier on each day.

You're still a creative genius! Your layouts are awesome :)
